Working out of offices in Eugene, Oregon, Tom Durant oversees EcoCafé Haiti as the founder, fund-raiser, and marketing director of the organization. Additionally, Durant serves as the volunteer economic development director for Christian Flights International (CFI).
Durant's background includes 38 years of business experience, graduate and undergraduate degrees in business, and a master's degree in theological studies. Additionally, Durant serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon and Oregon State University teaching entrepreneurship, global business, and other management courses.
As the founder of the organization Durant receives no remuneration for his services. EcoCafé Haiti is a Haitian employee-owned company, the benefits of which accrue solely to our Haitian employees and the community of Ranquitte.
The company started as a program through CFI with donations from a variety of sources. CFI is a faith-based, non-denominational, 501(c) (3) charitable organization whose ministry revolves around the community of Ranquitte, Haiti. CFI is headquartered in Richmond Kentucky.
In addition to supporting EcoCafé Haiti, for the last 30 years CFI has funded and operated a school (current enrollment of 1,400 students), a medical clinic, and a clean water program on a six-acre campus near Ranquitte, Haiti, a village in the north central mountains of that country.
